Stepping away from my usual blacks and grays, I decided to take color up on its offer this morning and paired this mustard yellow and fuchsia scarf with a mustard yellow silk dress, both by Ann Taylor.

I flounced into the Ann Taylor store this past weekend in search of the perfect summer dress, preferably on their sale rack. Accomplished? Maybe. Either way I walked out of the store with two new favorite colors.

...For daytime/functional "woman on-the-go" purposes, I dressed this look down by pairing it with sandals (comfort first). But, to swag it back up a notch I'd throw on my tan wedges.

Congratulations to my girl, fellow Nigerian, and former co-worker Adiat Oluwagbemisola Disu, CEO of Adiree Fashion Agency, for gigantic outstanding success in founding, producing, and directing Africa Fashion Week NYC 2010! There's a strong buzz swarming in the community that this event, which started the week of July 12th-18th, will be talked about for a very long time.

Iris Apfel, also known as "Rara Avis" (Rare Bird), is an 89 year old fashion consultant, legend, and accessories Goddess. She's definately someone to know about. I first read about her a few years ago while surfing through literature about her exhibit, Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverent Iris Apfel, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In October 2009, her breathtaking display came to the Peabody Essex Museum in Massachusetts. Rated-G

Chris LeGrand (my cousin) gets his very own post. Why? Because seeing him in this off-white and gray pinstriped suit paired with a tangerine button-down collared shirt brought a tear to my eye. He's always what I call "nocturnally well-dressed", but this is by far the best pairing of colors that I've seen on a guy in a long time so it easily gets my Rated G (for GQ) stamp of approval. This is how you rock a suit on a night out. Plus, you'll probably get a phone number that you wouldn't normally have a chance of getting.

So I called to ask him who the designer was and he told me that "it's all from H&M". That's when I had a small WTF moment. Who would've effing thought.

Shaun White 4 Target

I'm in total agreement that the Shaun White 4 Target collection is brilliant. Not only is it probably another pretty facelift to Target's stock, but also another way for them to convince the non-believers that ummm they have clout. Shaun's been a Target sponsored athlete since 2002 and debuted his first collaborated collection in 2008 which included t-shirts, tanks, button-downs, hoodies, pants, and shorts. This week his fall/winter 2010 sneaker collection debuts and is available both on the site and in the stores.
